Late Nights..... Early Mornings

Tired is the only mood I have been in the past few weeks....

My six month old daughter is teething. If you don't have kids, then you have no idea how irritating and tiresome teething can be.

I haven't slept and my nerves are on extreme edge. She is crying constantly and have fevers almost everyday.  Add my husband, four year old son, full time job, and school into the mix, and I am not a nice person these days.

I love my babies tho. Its just the nature of the beast. I survived with my son and I will survive this time as well.

The lack of sleep isn't great but coffee works wonders. You'd be surprised how much energy you can get from 20 min catnaps in your car on lunch breaks. .

What Grinds My Gears....

One thing I can say that irks my nerves more than others is people that text and drive. OMG!!!!!

It is absolutely one of the most dumbest things someone can do. What is so important that you must put yourself and others in serious harm way?

I rode with my youngest sister to Orlando and back this past Saturday. She is a serious texter. I had to close my eyes halfway through the trip. She kept doing it. She was having this ongoing conversation with her best friend. Why couldn't she just CALL her and talk to her is mind boggling. She ran off the road twice and when she almost did the 3rd time, I was about two seconds from punching her in the nose. Even when she ran off into the shoulder, she never put the phone down. Her position in the car from West Palm Beach to Orlando was one hand on wheel, one hand has phone in it, and head tilted down. I was about to lose my mind.

I asked her if she drives like this with my nephew in the car and she insists NO. I know that was a darn lie!

I drove on the way back. It was the safest way to keep me from dying or going to jail for murder. Why do people do it? I know everyone has seen the videos of people dying from texting while driving. I guess I will never know. It is never that serious and I have two children and a husband I like to get home to every night.

The ironic thing about the trip is, my mom and dad are kicking her off their insurance in May and she wants to get on mine. I WAS thinking about it....

NOT ANYMORE!!!

I have a New Job

I am very excited to share that I have a new job. I currently work for the Attorney General's Office in the Criminal Appeals division as a Case Supervisor. While I love my job, I am always looking to excel and escalate in life.

I applied for a Management position with the Federal Courts in the Criminal Probation/Legal Division around Christmas. I was called for a interview on January 27th. I interview very well and possess great speaking skills. It was a panel interview consisting of five of the Bureau Chiefs from different divisions of the courthouse. It seemed somewhat intimidating, but once I get to talking, I am good to go. The interview went well and I wasn't surprised they called my the following Monday offering me the job.  I GLADLY accepted.

Federal jobs are hard to get in because no one ever really quits. I am very excited. I start on March 9th. While leaving my current job will be bittersweet, I am anxiously awaiting the next chapter in my life.

How Professional Bloggers Handle Voice and Purpose

When communicating through their writing, professional bloggers have to carefully choose the tone in which they are using to convey the message they want to get across. Tone is key in communication. Even when not speaking to someone, you tone can be felt while reading your writing. So when thinking about the purpose of whatever you have chosen to write about, you have to cater the tone of your writing to fit the purpose.

When at work, I constantly get emails, memo, briefs,  and letters throughout the day. I deal with criminals and people in prison trying to represent themselves in their appeals. When reading their pleading you can tell if someone is angry, mad, begging, or just insane simply by reading...

Tone is key if you want the purpose properly understood.

How To Handle The Reader

When writing, I always have to think of the reader. Is what I am writing going to captivate the reader? Are the going to like it? Will the understand the message I am trying to portray? Will they even finish reading the material? With all these questions running around in my head, I have to stop and think about how get a good handle on my reader. I think about who I want to read what I have written. What audience am I trying to target? When that is figured out, I will cater what I have written to the general likes and minds of the target audience.  I believe an explosive introduction is key. I cant tell you how many times I've read  a few pages of a book and get so lost in what I am reading, I just give up. Getting the reader to think is also another I handle my reader to get them to do what I am what them to do and that is read what I have written,

What I have Learned while writing....

While writing this first document, it has made me open my eyes to what I post OR repost/share on social networks. Yes it may be funny, but do I really want my name attached to it. I googled my name and see that some of my retweets even come up. So in this past week or so, I have gone back and looked at everything on my Facebook and Instagram. I deleted a few pictures that could be taken the wrong way, and memes that even though were funny to me, didnt look good for the image I am trying to portray. Even though I know once its out there, its out there forever, I can still make the effort.

I watch what I retweet now. I can just laugh and keep it moving. I dont have to repost it. The crazy vidoes we seeon Facebook. Just laugh and keep strolling. This assigment really has made me MORE  aware of my online image.

Writing in a Group. What works, What Doesnt

Im not for Group Assignments. I really do not like it. However, there are some pros and cons to group projects. For the pros, you get new ideas and different point of views. Some time you can get burnt out while writing or drafting a paper. You can hit a brick wall. Working in a group, you can have ideas that you didnt think of, or someone to get the wheels turning again. Another benefit of working in a group is that you feel accountable to do you part. In a group, someone can feel as if there are obligated to do their scetion of the assigment so they dont sink the whole group.  What I don't like about group assignments are the cons, which in my opinion, far outweigh the pros. You have to depend on someone else to do their part and get things done. Some people get in group assigments and feel they can ride the coattails of others.  I really dont like group assigments.
