Wikipedia..

I have always been a fan of Wikipedia. It really does come in handy when you need quick information. I have been a avid user of Wikipedia for years now. I use it to verify something I already know or to be a backup to a already source. Most teachers do not like when you use Wikipedia as a source, and actually this is the only class I have ever taken where Wikipedia is actually entertained by a professor. Pretty cool. I love looking up various things, especially when I am bored. I like how it is constantly updated, even though I have seen some inaccurate data on pages here and there. Overall it is a good site.

I have never thought to actually edit an article or even create one. The fact that we are doing this in this class is pretty interesting. Just thinking that thousands of people will see something I have written is cool to think about. I hope I don’t mess it up.

Something on me that symbolizes me…..

I would say my charm necklace that I wear EVERYDAY symbolizes me. I had it made through Origami Owl and you can pick the charms. I have a J charm that stands for my son, Joshua. My K charm stands for my daughter, Khyle. I have a heel charm because I am a shoe fanatic. It’s an obsession and addiction that I proudly rep! I have a charm that says, Family Forever. Family is BIG to me. It is the core foundation of my life and I love my family. I have a background plate that is engraved with my married last name on it. MARKS I love married life. I have a football charm in it, because I love football. I am a diehard Dol-Fan and will be till I leave this earth.

I feel my Origami Owl charm necklace symbolizes me perfectly.  My sister sells Origami Owl so I am constantly adding charms to it.

Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher"

So I read the short story by Edgar Allen Poe , The Fall of the House of Usher. We all know that Poe's writing was always a little dark and a little twisted. A quick synopsis shows a guy who went to a friend's house and the friend's sister is dead, but not really. A lot of creepy paranormal stuff goes on and it is as if the house is alive and in the end both the friend and the friend's sister is dead and the house dissipates.

I really wasn't into the story so much. It reminded me of the sixth sense movie. The little boy is really creepy and sees some crazy stuff and dead people. Bruce Willis is following him around and in the end we find out the Bruce Willis has been dead all this time ..... Eh! I'm not really into paranormal stories.

Back on subject! The themes I got from the movie was mortality, mental illness, and rising from the dead.... Resurrection if you must.  Roderick was a hypochondriac. The sister was dead the ENTIRE time, but was  walking around the house and stuff freaking me out.

What was so interesting was  the calmness and overall demeanor of the narrator. He was calm and so willing to help his friend and cheer him up, even though this entire situation was Frrrreeeeaaakkky

A little creepy if you ask me but hey....  It is Edgar Allen Poe.

My Introduction to Comp 2

HELLO!

My name is Randi Bush-Marks. I am taking another English with Professor Hamon so there will blogs! You can read my previous posts to get a little idea about me. I am a mother of two, US Army Veteran, and I am currently in the Legal Studies program. I have been working in the Legal field for a few years now and I love it. Do I want to be a lawyer? Heck NO! But I do love this field. I recently got a new job with the Federal Courts and I love it. It’s a bit different from my previous job at the Attorney General’s Office but it’s exciting nonetheless. I recently bought a home and this journey is exciting. I am always busy, always tired, and always on the go. My daughter is 7 months old and my son is almost 5. He is graduation from VPK next month and going to Kindergarten in August. The time sure does fly. If you catch me sneaking out of class a few minutes early, that is where I am headed. To my husband and children. I leave my house at 7 in the morning, and on school nights, I don’t see it again until 9ish that night. It’s hectic but I know it’s going to pay off in the long run. This is my 3RD semester at South and I have to say I am getting this school thing down. I was nervous at first because the last time I was in school was Basic Training, AIT, and other military related courses while serving in the Army. Well more of me to come in the upcoming weeks. If you are on my Google+, let me warn you now, I post pictures of my children. Not a lot but a few and other interesting articles. I am a bit of a news junkie.
